In July, I gave up driving alone from Stoneham and began carpooling 7.5 miles to Wyeth in Cambridge. I love it and because we can talk about things while going to and from work. We are more productive at work and already decompressed from the daily grind before we get home, which helps the home life as well. We both attend night school and try to coordinate our night classes so we can carpool as much as possible, typically three times a week.
I used to live in Southern New Hampshire before moving to Stoneham and starting to carpool. I used to drive 35 miles one-way. I now drive as many miles in a week as I used to in a day. This significantly cuts down on oil changes, which is another benefit, less oil to be disposed of, and saves money on car maintenance.
